I had an amazing experience backpacking and setting camp up at the primitive campsites at South Llano River State Park. While I was only able to stay one night due to time constraints, it was extremely pleasant.

Great Texas Hill Country State Park. 55 camping spots with additional.primitive camping availability. All RV spots are 30 amp / water; no sewage connection. Great wildlife and hiking / biking trails.

Will give 5 ratings.. no doubt.. very well maintained park, clean, good place to trek, swim, canoe, fish.. lots if wildlife around.. good for birds watching.. very good camping sites.. only thing to note is the park office does not have vending machine..

Very open park great for camping and trails. There are four bird blinds, a good to place to visit if you are interested. I found the trees not tall enough so felt too humid around the park may be its the weather at that time or its just me.

Campfires weren’t allowed in the primitive sites but that’s okay as, with less light pollution, stargazing was phenomenal. The hiking trails were great and long. During the entire trip we only saw 4 other people. Next time I’m going to bring my mountain bike as the trails seemed fairly reasonable for biking and you could definitely get some speed going down the steep hills.

5 out of 5 stars. I would highly recommend camping out here!

One of the smaller parks I've visited, but there is a ton of beauty packed in there. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Campsites were a tad close together, but that is to be expected in a smaller park. Saw black bucks and axis, I only wished I had seen a turkey. :)
